Re: Thank you thread
Sun, May 4, 2008 - 10:27 PM.. and thank you to Dr HoWOWard for fixing up poor Adam's burnt hand (his sex life is gonna suffer for a week or two).
Thanks to Adam for showing Celeste 2 such a good time (maybe Celeste 3 burned you because she was jealous), thanks to Nick for doing the same for Celeste 3 (the good time part, not the 2nd degree burn thing), thanks to Michael for bringing me Celeste 3 (who is now properly dressed in her Bianchi Celeste handle bar tape), and thanks to Jazz from Trick Concepts for patching up Celeste 1.
Sky, I know you are very proud of your baby and you have very good reason to be.

Re: Thank you thread
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 9:29 AMThank you Fire Drums Community for coming together to co-create another majikal journey! Every year we keep learning more (and not just about spinning) to make this event even better.
Thanks to Sky for the vision and all the many aspects of coordination and effort to bring this event into reality.
Blissings to everyone who participated in the cooking and cleaning for community meals and Aileen for coordinating.
Much Gratitude to all the instructors for sharing skills and love of the art, and to Noel and Silence for scheduling.
Big kisses to Rachhhhhh for being the sexiest fire safety coordinator ever and teaching me by example how to drink a beer, point, and get so much done!
Bounce hugs to all the greeters, and the Lovely, the LOUD, and Lushious ****Electra!!!***** for coordination and for getting everyones attention for announcements.
Blessings and gratitude to Greg, Prisna, Sean, Stacia, Aurora and all those that helped set up the fuel station, chill space, and ambiance of the event!!!
Much love to Bren and David of Trick Concepts for bringing the vending village together and strengthening the professional community.
Thank you (forgot the name) for bringing a couple cords of wood to keep the fire bright and to everyone feeding the bliss pit (fire pit in rainbow terms).
Gotta send a LOT of love and gratitude to the people that were there in spirit and were not able to make it. Your presence is felt as well.
Eternal gratitude for the redwood trees, and all the folks at Cutters and the Rangers that allow us into the groove to play.
(In short, thank you to everyone at firedrums, and everyone not at fire drums.)
*Bliss*

Mon, May 5, 2008 - 9:31 AMMaybe his name is KC that brought the wood for the fire? Thank you!!!! -

Re: Thank you thread
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 10:59 AMI didn't see K.C. this year. I believe our wood came from another source.
....Thanks to all of you for making me drool at my desk today from the sheer fatigue as the vague memories dance through my mind.
.......So many laughs from Crystal and Poke as we directed their choreography from our arm chairs.
FD isn't nearly often enough.... so much happens in a year. It's great to see how everyone has been evolving.
Thanks to each person who volunteered their energy and resources to this event.

Re: Thank you thread
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 10:49 AMThis was my first FireDrums, and certainly not my last. *sigh* I'm sad its over.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this event possible. I plan on giving back, FO SHO.
What an amazing surge of flow that just entered my body this weekend. I feel an amazing supply of inspiration from the workshops and performances I saw. Entering the circle for the first time on Friday night was a very powerful and humbling experience.
Heck, the process of arriving to Firedrums was a humbling experience. To escape the sirens, and trains, and tall buildings, and concrete, for a couple days and find community in flow was like being the new kid arriving at Hogwarts.
Zan, AlienJon, and MikeICON, and Yuta: It was a pleasure taking your workshops!

Re: Thank you thread
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 11:31 AMWow, I am back in DC and still marveling at the incredible time that I had at Fire Drums. This was my third fire drums and undoubtedly the best so far!!
HUGE THANKS for the incredible energy that went into the community kitchen. My belly was full and happy the whole weekend.
I also really enjoyed every single class I took, my only complaint was that there were times when I wanted to be in many places at one time!! I thought after taking back to back workshops all day on Saturday I would be too tired to dance, but quite the contrary, I have never felt more comfortable fire dancing and managed to dance all night and do two sunrise burns.
So grateful for all the organizers and for the universe allowing me the opportunity to participate. -

Re: Thank you thread

Thanks for attending my workshop, and the rest of you brave enough to explore my crazy world too!
... and I'd like to propose that we move the location of Fire Drums '09 to Hogwarts and stop beating around the bush. =)
... or maybe just convince the boyscout camp to let us build an ewok vilage.
Much love to you all,

Re: Thank you thread
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 11:27 AMFIREDRUMS GRATITUDE!! Specific thanks to Sky, Noel & crew, Kitchen crew, Grounds crew, Drummers, Greeters, Safeties, Instructors, Students, Fire tenders, Fuel peops and to everyone else who contributed to the event! And thank you to Jaz and Scorch with Trick Concepts for my kickass cannonball poi! Without your patience and encouragement, I would have strayed from my task (which proved to be oh-so-rewarding). :)
This was the third spring FireDrums that Milo and I have attended (having met at FD III), and the event just keeps getting so much *BETTER*! The idea-sharing energy was strong in ‘06, but the class structure that has evolved since then has increased the rate of learning by heaps! I feel like I just earned a minor in Movement Tech! (Not to mention the buzzing renewed centeredness I feel after spending a weekend in the redwoods with such an amazing community!) Thank you FireDrums!!! I <3 U! -

Re: Thank you thread
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 1:15 PMThank you... a few days in the forrest was exactly what I needed. After driving back through the night and coming into work a little hippied out and totally sleep deprived; I am staring at my computer screen still lost in the beauty that I found myself surrounded by at FireDrums. Every person I had the pleasure of speaking to was amazing, each in their own regard. The knowlege that I picked up in the forest will remain with me for the rest of my days. Thank you also to the people who patched up my hand on Saturday night. Thanks to the staff who worked their bootays off so that we could frolick and romp in the trees.
Thanks to the drummers who were all totally cool and willing to offer advice and friendship, Paul 1, Paul 2, Steve, Dub, Reid.. etc.. etc..
There's just too much to be thankful for. I am very grateful.

Mon, May 5, 2008 - 2:00 PMThe past few days have put me into a different orbit. Thank you to Sky and all of the organizers for putting so much effort into this gathering. Thank you to everyone who was there for such great energy.
I was describing the weekend to my girl, and the thing that I kept coming back to is how sharing of knowledge and giving in spirit everyone is. A big gargantuan hug to you all.
OK, I'm off to go practice my new skillz.... :) -

Re: Thank you thread
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 3:12 PMI'm completely blown away by how good all of you are. I usually try not to have any expectations events, but after last year, and hearing how many world-class spinners were coming, I started getting really excited for Firedrums 08. Alot of times that would just be a recipe for a disappointing weekend, with what the event actually is not meeting my arbitrary ideas of what it should be.
Well that didn't happen. Firedrums was so much better than I could have possibly imagined, from the brain-meltingly fantastic classes, to the goofy moments shooting the shit with you otherworldly creatures, to the delicious bacony kitchen times, to spinning in a cloud at dawn over a bubbling lake.
Not only was it a positively splendid overall weekend, but I feel like I made alot of new brothers by other mothers and sisters by other misters. I'd like to keep in touch with everyone I met, if any of you come by Southern California in the next few months let me know, you got a place to stay.

Re: Thank you thread
Mon, May 5, 2008 - 2:59 PMI'd like to thank all who participated in creating and making this event happen. It's never easy to make something of this nature run smoothly. From it all, many people returned home a bit tried and happy. I never was able to say, "Thank you!" to you all, but please give kudos to the staff who did management, fire safety, workshops, cooking, and first aid. This wouldn't have happened with out them.
I personally want to thank my Rangers who were there:
Shiho
Cousteau
Tenderfoot
Prana
Bacchus
Special K
TomCat
Nicole
*hugs*

No no no sir, thank you
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 1:05 AMIt was really the most relaxed and happy little bit of 'rangerin' I've had the opportunity to do. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I may need a weekend to recover from my weekend, but still.
Much love to everyone involved!
Thanks for doing one hell of a job as head ranger, Flint!

Mon, May 5, 2008 - 4:05 PMI think Memory said it best in passing when she said, 'You know, this is better than Burningman for me'. Too true, so many of my favorite people in one place, and then having the pleasure of adding to that list many times over. Thanks everyone, and many thanks to those who organized this, I'll be decompressing for weeks to come. -

Thank you Sky for leading the organization of such a wonderful event. I wish I head enough energy and time to list everyone and thank them one by one for organizing, facilating, and attending firedrums 6.
After changes in my life, and missing past 2 gatherings, I have been neglegting my skill toys. I think now I have enough energy and ispiration to keep my skill toys busy for the rest of the year.
Also more importantly, in this gathering I felt again, that I am a part of a great community which has tremendeous goodness and love in itself.
I will be looking forward for the next gathering,
cheers,

Re: Thank you thread
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 11:39 AMThere's no greater gift than the transmission of the product of intense personal exploration, and I cannot express enough gratitude to all those who gave workshops for this event. My mental boundaries have been blown open so many times over the weekend that I don't know where they lie anymore -- and it feels great!

Re: Thank you thread
Tue, May 6, 2008 - 1:52 PMThis festival is Epic! Sooo much gratitude to Sky for manifesting the vision and for what it has become. FireDrums brings this crazy beautiful community together in a way that no other gathering I'm aware of has. Burning Man has the volume but nowhere close to the density. I'm looking forward to experiencing Wildfire, EJC, Play festival, etc.
Huge respect to all of you who put so much energy into bringing us all together. I know coordinating and appeasing so many cool cats is quite a monumental task, but the organizers really came together and truly rocked the scene. The fire safety, the play area, the community kitchen, the greeter’s station, the music, the workshops, everyone who arrived early to set up and who stayed late to ensure there was no trace, everything. I loved it all.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone out on the world's stages and at next year's gathering.
Burn bright my friends
