camping details

Question from a newbie - I've seen a couple of posts which suggest that we don't camp where we park, so I'm wondering how far we have to carry our camping gear from parking lot to campsite? Just so I can plan what to pack my stuff in. I looked at the map of the campsite under the directions link, but couldn't tell where the campsite(s) are in relation to parking lots.

thanks!

I think in most cases you can drive right up to where you want to camp, unload your stuff and then go park your car.

Two years ago it rained on Thursday and made some of the roads impassable so people had to drag their stuff through the woods.

Looks like good weather this year except for the cold nights, bring lots of blankets.

Parking is okay by campsites as long as it doesn't impede traffic or are in the fire lanes. The parking is fairly obvious where one can or cannot do so. If there isn't a parking spot close to your site, drop your gear off at the campsite and park at the upper or lower parking areas.

Please be aware that if a tent can be set up there, it's considered a camp spot.
In previous years people have parked in possible camp spots which obviously reduces the number of camping options.
Some people also set up tents in the middle of a fire road and had to move.
Also, one addendum to the "park anywhere as long as it doesn't impede traffic or are in the fire lanes" is that there is no parking regardless in the upper camps. The Greeters will let you know where that is and where are places to park near the camp spaces.
Either way, as mentioned, you can drop off your gear and then park in the upper lot preferably.
Once the upper lot is full, we'll park to the far back of the lower lot.
The front half of the lower lot is reserved for workshops so we want to keep that as open as possible.
