Hey everyone,
just wanted to say a quick couple of things, get them off my mind. Enjoyed Firedrums this year, would have enjoyed it more without the mud and rain. It's Scottish weather novelty quickly wore off.
It was a shame I didn't get to chat to more people, chris and shireen, rif, chains and like everyone... I didn't get a proper chance to talk to all the 'old schoolers' Sorry you guys. I barely even realised ryhmo was there. Crappy. Sorry everyone. I really would have enjoyed talking more to people but for some reason the rain kinda made that not happen too. It's weird.
I'm glad people enoyed my workshops, thanks everyone. They went rather well this year. I will put up some workshops notes at some point, and chad has some footage from the contact workshop so you can have a reminder and aid for later practise. [Practise practise practise...] ;p
Thanks to skye and everyone with rubber boots particularly noel, who helped when they were tired and cold and being rained on. Good effort you guys. You were awesome.
I particularly enjoyed taking anna maltese class on wushu broadsword. I felt even more hardcore doing it in the rain and mud. And loki's workshop on shoulder conditioning was super interesting.
Anyway, gotta go find some food to eat.
Hope I'll be back for firedrums 2010...

Thu, May 7, 2009 - 5:28 PMThank you for the great contact workshop Meg,
the way you broke everything down made continuous contact much more achievable =]
I didn't get a chance to introduce myself but I surely shall next time! -

Thu, May 7, 2009 - 6:00 PMI am currently sipping a concrete cocktail, and hardening the F*&% up. Thank you for that advice. Was great to kick it with you for a few days. WildFire is coming up..... I am transfering the staff video now. Much love and huge thanks for the dedication to the art and your own growth. Very inspiring. -

Re: 2009
Thu, May 7, 2009 - 7:28 PMHey, Meg,
I enjoyed having you in the class - it felt good to have someone nodding excitedly regarding the eight-hour practice (sorry, I meant 'practise') sessions. Had been looking forward to taking more classes, but found myself constantly attacked throughout the weekend by these two crazed guys with padded staves.
Man, fighting off ninjas works up the appetite....
Speaking of which, go eat something! :)

Thu, May 7, 2009 - 10:22 PM"I barely even realised ryhmo was there. "
I saw you! Someone (Noel maybe?) told me you were looking for me on saturday night, but I never saw you after that :(
"And loki's workshop on shoulder conditioning was super interesting. "
I think, considering my shoulder's history at firedrums, it would have been wise for me to not miss that one... -

Fri, May 8, 2009 - 7:12 AMMCP's class highlights are at this link. This is my first YouTube upload, so hopefully it will work for everyone. It currently says that the video isn't processed yet, so I assume it will take a little time for what ever YouTube does to get up there. It is in DivX format at about 21 Mb compressed.

Re: 2009
Fri, May 8, 2009 - 10:56 AMYeah I think the rain made me feel a little less social too, also Firedrums is such a long event I often said to myself "hey I should really say hi to so and so, but I'll take this workshop right now"
And next thing I know it's over.
Next time I'll just have to get there on Thursday for once! -

Re: 2009
Fri, May 8, 2009 - 11:27 AMWooot! Thanks for filming that Chad, I just wish we'd done the same for Meast...
Meg, as always, it was a total pleasure jamming with you and taking your class. I've been able to do continuous angels now in practice, which I'd never been able to do before, and thanks to some tutoring from Chains I've got the Jesus too. Those neck redirections from the fishtails are really cool, I never realized how easy it was to change direction in contact.
And I disagree with Chains about the rain, this was my most social Firedrums by far, because of the rain. Less jammin', more yappin'. Nothing wrong with that though... -

Mon, May 18, 2009 - 10:19 PMOh, I hate you all because I'm dying of envy. -

Re: 2009
Tue, May 19, 2009 - 12:44 PMOh, well, um,....actually, it, er, TOTALLY SUCKED, Maria! Completely. No, really. We're all just saying it was awesome to console ourselves over how godawful it really was. Honestly. You didn't miss a thing.
Yeeeaaaaah, that's the ticket.... -

Re: 2009
Sun, June 14, 2009 - 11:27 AMThanks for that, Anna. It helps. Not much, but some.
Really, it didn't help. I still hate you all and am now even more envious, but I'm trying to be nice.
It's like fucking St. Crispen's Day, only with fire.

Wed, May 27, 2009 - 11:46 AMyeah, yeah, sure meg...if you'd take the earbuds out for a moment, maybe you would have heard us all heckling you & giggling behind your back...
seriously, tho, i know what it's like to be on the road for so long...hope you're enjoying being back "home."
and, btw, what the hell kind of presence did you have in the bowl?! 2 attempts at burning the f*&%! out of your arms with that ridiculous staff does not count as jammin' in my book...*wink*
see all the lovely conversation you missed by not talking to me?!

Re: 2009
Thu, May 28, 2009 - 3:51 PMI was talking crap with other people... You were to the slight left of me, if I recall.
I was under the onus of a dare: specifically to not spin fire for the whole of fire drums, because if would be 'funny' if I didn't. (I was allowed to spin fans and poi thou) Anybody that knows me should never made such a bet around me, cos I will do it. Just watch me.
The all fire staff was allowed because it would be entertaining, burn me and be 'funny'. After that, the dare/bet/challenge was dismantled and I was allowed to spin fire, but unfortunately, i also had mild pattern burns on my arm and neck, and didn't really want to rub them raw with a contact staff. Plus the drums never stopped so I had no enthusiam for spinning. Heckling sill worked thou... "INVISIBLE ZOMBIE ATTACK!" I love poki. -

Re: 2009
